frequently asked questions
your questions answered
WHAT IS THE MINIMUM NIGHT STAY?
There is a two night minimum, and most weekends have a three night minimum.
If the dates you want are already booked you can always add yourself to the waitlist by emailing us, and if there is a cancellation we will contact you.
Please note we do not offer single night stays at the moment.
WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING?
We hope almost nothing.
Our cabins have premium towels and linen bedding.
We supply eco-friendly shampoo, conditioner, body wash and hand soaps, from fill.
WHAT TIME IS CHECK-IN/ CHECK-OUT?
We offer a check-out at 10.00am, and check-in is between 3pm - 7pm. If you are arriving later, please message us when booking.
IS WILDCOMFORT SUITABLE FOR CHILDREN?
Each cabin is designed for two people – one double bed.
Due to the height of the deck the Birdhouse’s sit on, the off grid technology and the fire and gas stove, we do not feel that wildcomfort is suitable for children below 8 years old.
Any children who stay at wildcomfort between ages 8 - 11 years old must stay in the same cabin as a parent due to the above safety.
Guests must accept responsibility for the safety of their children at all times whilst visiting wildcomfort and the grounds.
All children (a person under 16 years of age) must be accompanied by an adult and must be supervised by an adult at all times.
You must take particular care when children are around animals, fire, equipment, high balconies and water.
Of course, wildcomfort loves children enjoying this special site, but the environment does come with its own risks. Be especially careful of the high decking the Birdhouses sit on, crossing the road to the beach, ensuring children stay on the marked pathways to avoid bramble, ivy, stinging nettle, adders, etc.
FOOD & COOKING
In your Birdhouse, you have a single gas hob, whistling kettle, cafetiere, cups and glasses, hot and cold water plus a Yeti to keep your wine/beer and any perishables chilled. We’ll start you off with a small skim milk.
Our Captains Cabin, BYOB pub and kitchen, has 3 large gas hobs, a wood oven, hot and cold water, plates, cups, utensils, small fridge, roaring fire, games and large table for socialising.
Plus we will provide cooking essentials like oil and salt.
Otherwise, if you’re wanting a total break from cooking, we recommend our favourite local spots to eat and drink in our welcome pack, which you will receive pre-arrival.
CAN I BRING MY OWN BBQ?
Due to the position of the Birdhouses, set amongst a Victorian woodland, we can’t have open fires or BBQ’s on the wooden decking.
However, we do have an amazing Gozney pizza oven (also cooks BBQ food) down in the Captain's Cabin, which is very well set up for great cooking with everything you need except the food you bring.
DO THE CABINS HAVE ELECTRICITY?
We are off-grid and run everything off 12v.
The cabins have LED dimmable lights and a reading light.
There are two USB sockets and a 12v car outlet socket in the cabin designed for charging phones.
IS THERE WI-FI / MOBILE PHONE SIGNAL?
We don’t have WiFi at the cabins because we like to encourage you to switch off from the noise and notifications while you’re with us.
We have a good phone reception and you should be able to get 4G.
WHAT IS THE BATHROOM LIKE?
Each cabin has a separate Outhouse with a rainfall shower, basin, and toilet, so it will feel just like home.
We provide premium towels and supply eco-friendly shampoo, conditioner, body wash and hand soaps, from fill. But we don’t supply toothpaste.
Please note: Because we are off-grid and 12v, we do not have hairdryers.
ARE THERE CLOTHES WASHING/DRYING FACILITIES?
No, due to this magical setting (and the hilly, off-grid nature), we are unable to provide washing and drying machines.
However, there is an excellent launderette at Leonards Cove as you enter Stoke Fleming on the left hand side driving towards wildcomfort.
We have provided clothes pegs to hang beach towels etc over the decking balustrade.
DO I NEED A CAR TO GET THERE?
Cars are the easiest mode of transport. But Totnes station is only 25 minutes cab from wildcomfort and we can recommend taxi firms.
You can also hire a car from the station.
CAN I DRIVE RIGHT UP TO THE CABIN?
The wildcomfort car park is away from the road with designated parking is available.
The cabins are just a short walk away up a hill from the car park. We will happily assist with bags if needed.
CAN I CHARGE MY ELECTRIC CAR?
Currently WIILDCOMFORT does not have an electric vehicle charging station.
However, there are several in the area, including at Leonards Cove campsite 1 minute drive from WILDCOMFORT and two in Dartmouth (5 mins drive).
Please contact us for more information.
CAN I BRING MY DOG?
Sadly, dogs are not allowed on the wildcomfort site due to it being on a privately owned estate in a Victorian garden so we have a lot of wildlife to protect.
Please contact us if you have an Assistant Dog and read our T&C's.
